PHARMACOLOGICAL GROUP: Expectorant mean.
DRUG FORM: Effervescent powder in sachet.
COMPOSITION OF ONE SACHET:
Active substance: Muсaltin (Dry extract of overground parts of Althea) – 50 mg; mint oil – 5,77 mg;
Aiding substances: sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, lactose, saccharin, strawberry flavour, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyethylene glycol.
Рreparation contains complex of biologically active substances: polysacharides, essential oil, flavonoids (quercitron, campherol), coumarins, anthocyanins, organic acids (lemon, apple, salicylic acid), C vitamin, pectic materials, carotin.
PHARMACOLOGICAL OPERATION: Effervescent powder of Mukaltin is characterised with expectorant, anti-inflammatory and softening action of a mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.
Preparation’s expectorant effect is provided by dry extract of overground parts of Althea – Mukaltin , which intensifies motion of bronchial cover’s epithelial ciliate and bronchial secretion. It thins phlegm and provides easy excretion of it.
Mint oil is characterised with bactericidal, antimicrobial, expectorant action. It relieves spasm, that’s why it reinforces pharmacological activity of Mukaltin. During cold symptoms it reduces respiratory tract inflammation and rhinitis.
The drug has a softening effect on the mucous membranes. Thereby reduces irritation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, reduces inflammatory processes and hastens regeneration of the damaged mucous integument.
PHARMACOCINETICS: Absorption rate of the preparation is depended on dose, mainly it is absorbed from duodenum and intestines.
INDICATION: IT IS USED IN COMPLEX THERAPY, AS AN AID MEAN: Respiratory tract acute and chronic diseases:
· Bronchitis;
· Pneumonia;
· Bronchoectasia;
· Tracheitis;
· Laryngitis;
· Angina.
APPLICATION AND DOSAGE RULE: Preparation is taken perorally before eating.
Effervescent powder should be diluted in 100ml warm water.
In adults and children from 12 years: 1-2 sachet 3-4 times a day;
Children from 1 to 3 years: ¼ – ½ sachet 1-4 times a day;
Children from 3 to 6 years: ½ – 1 sachet 1-4 times a day;
Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 sachet 1-4 times a day;
Treatment duration is 7-15 day according to the patient’s condition.
SIDE EFFECTS: Due to the presence of strawberry flavor in the preparation it may cause individual allergic reactions: rash, itch, urticaria.
CONTRAINDICATION: Allergic reactions towards the components of the preparation.
OVER-DOSAGE: No data available.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION PERIOD: Preparation may be used during pregnancy and lactation period.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER PREPARATION: Preparation may be used with other expectorant means.
INFLUENCE ON ABILITY OF MANAGEMENT OF MOTOR TRANSPORT AND MECHANISMS: Preparation doesn’t influence on driving ability.

SHELF-LIFE: 3 years.
After the expire or defect as a result of visual check usage of preparation is forbidden.
STORAGE CONDITIONS: Store in a dry, protected from light place, at not more than 25ºC temperature.
